Show Jumping

by Jack Coughlan

I took part in the 50 centimeter league at Maryville, Co. Cork. I got up at 7:30am to eat my breakfast and feed my lamb her morning feed. Then me and my mam got into the car to go to Carrigaline. We got there and I got straight out of my car and went up to learn my course that I would be competing in. I learned it very fast. Then we went and got hot chocolate so I wouldn’t be thirsty while riding. Then it was time. The jeep and horse box had arrived. I galloped down and got my pony Molly out. We tacked her up. She was ready to win. We trotted up to the warm up arena. We warmed up until my league started at 10:00. There were 12 horses in my league. I was 9th into the arena. We pranced in to the first fence of 12. The speed clock started after fence 7. We jumped the first fence nice and smooth. 2, 3 and four . She rattled 5 a bit but after that we went to 6 and 7 in a smooth canter. Then we met 7. It was time. Time to go ham. I floored  it over fences 8,9,10,11 and 12. Then I was done with a whopping time of 31.32 second. I had it won but now then there was four after me. Then they announced it. They said “And our winning rider is Jack Coughlan and she is shinning.’ I got 2 rosettes and a trophy.
