School Tour 2022
Junior and Senior Infants headed off to Ardmore Open Farm today. They had the most amazing day! Here are some of the pictures to prove it…

Mini beast mayhem
During the month of May w learned so much about minibeasts. Here are some of the activities we got up to during Aistear.

Designer minds
The students of Senior Infants became engineers this morning, designing and making Chariots. They had so much fun working together and making it move by using a special electronic device.

CircuS Skills
Here is a sneak peak of some of the circus skills Senior Infants are learning.

Minibeast Detectives
This month Senior Infants will become experts on all things minibeasts. We have already explored our very own school grounds looking for insects of all shapes and sizes. With so many different habitats to be explored it was a very successful hunt!

Easter Mayhem
Today’s Easter festivities began with an exciting Easter Hunt around the school. Then a very special visitor came to our classroom… The Easter Bunny! Have a great Easter Break everyone!

Our mini Conna Village
We have some budding architects, engineers, builders and project managers in our room. Over the past 3 weeks students worked together in their groups to recreate different local buildings that can be found in this very village.

Water week 2022
Senior Infants completed PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) during the week and are now PAWS Heroes awaiting their very special certificates. They learned all about water safety at the beach, in the swimming pool, by rivers and streams, at home and on the farm.
We discovered how valuable a resource water is too and the students worked together with their friends to create these wonderful informative posters.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY IN CONNA N.S.
Senior Infant’s put in an amazing effort dressing up in the Ireland and Ukraine colours today. Some faces were painted and even hair dyed green for the occasion! They put on a fantastic show too during the Céilí!

World Book Day
Senior Infants would like to thank Miss Joyce’s 5th and 6th Class for the wonderful Bookmarks! They designed individual bookmarks for each child in Senior Infants to mark World Book Day. The children loved them and most importantly they were excited to use them!

Planting Time
Following from our Aistear theme of The Garden Centre last month, Senior Infants put theory to practice today and planted sunflower seeds. Now for the hardest part.. waiting patiently for them to pop up!

Pancake Tuesday!
The cooking skills of Ms Roche and Ms O’Doherty were put to the test today as we cooked up some special pancakes for Senior Infants. The children were only too delighted to taste test the pancakes but not before they added some tasty toppings.
We hope everyone had a lovely Pancake Tuesday! Shame it only comes around once a year…

Aistear Time
Spring has well and truly arrived in Conna! During Aistear, senior infants have been running a busy Garden Centre and brightening up our room with some beautiful Cherry Blossom Trees. Of course we are spreading the LOVE in class too, creating some thoughtful St. Valentine’s themed art.

Literacy Stations
We are into our second week of Literacy Stations in the Senior Infant classroom. The classroom is a hive of activity in the mornings with children getting the opportunity to read familiar and new stories, practice their handwriting and work on their sounds. It is a big hit with the children!

Investigating weight
The classroom has been filled with lots of hands-on learning this week trying to make the pan scale balance! It was fantastic to see the children using their problem solving skills and working together during the lessons.

St. Brigid’s Day
Senior Infants enjoyed making St. Brigid’s crosses using lollipop sticks.

brickz 4 KidZ
We had such a good time today when Brickz 4 Kidz came to visit.

Christmas performance
There is great excitement in the Senior Infant classroom as we count down the days to Christmas! Senior Infants want to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our Trip to the Post Office
Over the past two weeks, senior infants have been learning all about the Post Office during their time in Aistear. They were very busy writing and sending letters straight to the North Pole as well as getting Christmas parcels ready for postage. They also really enjoyed designing their own wrapping paper and stamps, all to be sold in our very own classroom post office.
The highlight was of course our trip to the local Post Office here in Conna. Students posted their letters to family and friends, spreading the Christmas Cheer!

Maths Time
Senior Infants have been busy learning all about some 2D shapes. They found lots of circles, triangles, squares and rectangles around our classroom during a shape hunt and explored the different properties during numeracy stations. We finished off the week by making Crazy Shape Monsters.

Happy halloween
It’s one of our favourite days of the year in school! We had great fun dressing up and trying to guess who is under the mask! Lots of money raised for charity too!!
